Chapter 3 : Sorry and Thank You

Arthur had just stepped into the classroom when he heard his aunt Alex calling, "Arthur, Leonard, come to my office."

"Great, another scolding. One more or less doesn''t matter, but why call Leonard?"

He glanced at Leonard in confusion. "Why are you being called?"

Leonard raised his eyelids slightly. "To testify, I guess."

Arthur thought it was possible, nodded, and followed Alex to the office.

Alex couldn''t believe her good nephew had caused such a scene on his first day at Elegance High, injuring the school bully so badly that his head was wrapped like a melon.

She initially thought her nephew was causing trouble again, but after repeatedly questioning the surrounding students and Zayne, she finally felt relieved. Remembering Arthur''s previous encounter, she wished she could give those kids a good beating.

In the office, Liam was already waiting. Seeing Liam''s head wrapped like a mummy, Arthur couldn''t help but laugh.

Leonard didn''t laugh, but his mouth twitched slightly.

The teachers in the office watched the two "school bullies" with great interest, not wanting to miss any details, as if witnessing a grand battle for the martial arts leader.

Alex sat down, took a sip of her tea, and said, "Alright, gentlemen, tell me what happened."

The two of them started talking, leaving Alex bewildered. "What a mess."

She decided to listen to Leonard, believing that such an excellent student wouldn''t lie. "Leonard, did you see what happened?"

Leonard looked at Alex. "Partially. I heard Liam being rude to Arthur first." His eyes conveyed absolute certainty, as if saying, "What I''m saying is the truth."

Arthur eagerly chimed in, "He''s just crazy. A good beating will fix him."

Alex shot Arthur a glare, "If we solve everything with fights, then what''s the point of having the police? What''s the point of having laws?"

Liam, with his cheeks puffed out, grumbled, "I''m just stating the facts."

Alex, well aware of what Liam considered "facts," said, "Liam, don''t maliciously speculate about a classmate''s past and then announce it to everyone. It makes you look bad."

Liam retorted, "I''m not making it up. My friend told me."

"The student who got beaten up is still in the hospital. Which friend of yours told you that?"

Realizing he was in the wrong, Liam had nothing more to say.

Arthur, seeing Liam''s silence, wanted to kick him again, but Leonard held him back. "Don''t cause trouble. We''re in the office. Don''t you want to go home early?" Arthur, thinking Leonard made a good point, retracted his foot.

Fortunately, the homeroom teacher of Class 2 was a reasonable person. He scolded Liam and made him apologize to Arthur first.

Reluctantly, Liam muttered, "Sorry."

Alex nudged Arthur, "Your turn."

Mr. Vanderbilt glanced at Liam, walked over, and squeezed Liam''s shoulder, subtly increasing the pressure. "I''ll try to be gentler next time."

Seeing Liam''s face contort in pain, it was clear to everyone that Arthur was being rough. But considering the filthy things Liam had said, Alex didn''t say anything.

Leonard also offered a slight apology, "Sorry, the stick has no eyes. It hit you."

Alex looked at Leonard, then at Arthur. "Just one class, and you''re already this close?"

He scolded Leonard a bit more.

Leonard nodded, accepting the criticism.

Arthur was surprised to see Leonard siding with him. Thinking back, his top student deskmate had been helping him clean up the mess the whole time. He felt a bit grateful.

After leaving the office, Arthur rummaged through his left pocket, then his right, and finally pulled out a gummy bear, handing it to Leonard. "This is the last one. It''s for you. Sorry for getting you in trouble, but thanks for helping me."

Leonard took it, "You wasted two of my classes, and all I get is a gummy bear?"

Seeing Leonard''s ungratefulness, Arthur''s temper flared up again. "If you don''t want it, give it back. Are you always this difficult?"

Leonard raised an eyebrow and said, "You were just thanking me, and now you''re cursing me. Didn''t know you had two faces."

Arthur''s slight gratitude vanished completely.

"Leonard, do you want to get beaten up too?"

But Leonard was stronger. Without even lifting an eyelid, he said, "Remember how you couldn''t break free earlier? And you think you can take me on? That''s funny."

Arthur had never been looked down upon like this. His beautiful eyes widened, and his lashes fluttered in anger. "Say that again?"

"You''re weak. That''s just a fact." With that, Leonard ran towards the classroom, with Arthur chasing after him, shouting, "Damn it, Leonard, if you have the guts, don''t run!"

A teacher from an unknown class came out and yelled, "You two, what grade are you in? No shouting during class time."

As they neared the classroom, Leonard stopped, looked at the slightly warm gummy bear in his hand, smiled, and put it in his pocket.
